What’s Your Story
Here’s my story. Last month was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we produced a video for the cancer center that helped save my wife’s life, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Watch the first minute of this video, and then you can decide if you want to invest any more of your valuable time to hear the whole story and see why good story telling is so effective for your business or practice.
What’s your story?
This month I was planning on writing about how to create effective messaging for your “About Us” or “Why Buy” video, but then I realized there’s something even more important that I can teach first….the importance of Story Telling
Dana-Farber is one of the best Cancer Centers in the country. How did we choose to tell their story?
We could have shown lots of great research and statistics that would demonstrate that Dana-Farber is one of the best cancer centers in the country, and that information would appeal to the logical side of your brain, which is important. But, most people (whether they know it or not) make decisions based on emotion. And that’s where story telling comes in to play.
Dana-Farber does a great job of sharing patient stories, on Facebook, blogs, their website, at fundraising events and even through a TV/Radio telethon where you hear patients tell their stories of love, hope, heartache, and victory. All of this “Humanizes” their brand, it makes them more than just a cancer center, more than just research and statistics.
Fact: Every organization has a great story to tell
Story telling is the best way to demonstrate your passion for your business; it’s how you connect with your customers. There are a lot of different ways to tell that story. Want to learn how?
