Company Profile Videos – The Pros and Cons of Each Type of Production
Last month I talked about the 3 types of Company Profile Videos. This month, I’m going to talk about the pros and cons of each…and how your choice may affect the pricing.
The goal of a Company Profile video is to quickly introduce your company …explaining what you do, what makes you unique, and most importantly why you do it.
Which type is best to fit your needs? Here are some things to consider:
1.Interview-Driven: Includes Staff Interviews, Customer Testimonials and B-Roll Footage
Pros:
- Very personal feel, company culture can come through
- Potential customers get to virtually meet you and your team
- Authentic – customers get to see your business or work environment
- Customer testimonials are extremely powerful and persuasive
Cons
- Not everyone is comfortable on camera*
- Your office environment doesn’t have the “wow factor” you want people to see*
- Not always easy to schedule customer testimonials
*We work with our clients to make the interview process very easy and comfortable. No memorizing lines or talking to the camera. Just click here to see some successful results. (link to Vidyard Co Profile Page)
*If your team works remotely or you need a nice space for interviews, we have office space and conference rooms available for video shoots.
2.Scripted with Voiceover: The visuals for this type of video can be a combination of b-roll footage taken at your business, film-quality stock footage and motion graphics.
Pros
- We can make you look as big as you want. Regional, National, Global.
- A professional voiceover can give the video a more polished or national-quality feel
- We can utilize stock film footage of other office environments and workers
- Scripting allows you to approve/control exactly what is going to be said in the video
- Production can be less expensive if you don’t need an on-site video shoot
Cons
- It may not feel as personal or local to your customers
- Additional cost for professional voiceover talent
3.Scripted with Voiceover and Animation: Similar to the preceding video but your visual story is told using 2D or 3D animation.
Pros
- A creative way to tell a story or explain a product or service
- An excellent option for complicated subjects
- Scripting allows you to approve/control exactly what is going to be said in the video
- You won’t need a video shoot
Cons
- Animation costs vary widely and can add up*
- Lacks personal connection
*The cost for animation will depend on the level/quality of animation plus the length of the video. Animation is priced by the finished minute.
Which one is the best?
Interview-Driven Company Profile Videos are the most popular style amongst our clients because they really help to humanize the business and allow people to virtually meet you and your team, see your business in action and hear feedback from some real-life customers.
What’s best for your business?
Short answer…that depends. That’s why we always start the creative process with a Video Strategy Session to learn about you, your business, your customers, and your goals. In many cases, we’ve produced Company Profile Videos that were a hybrid of 2 or 3 different styles.
Based on our experience, you’ll see 2 immediate benefits when you add a Company Profile Video to your website:
- Increase the amount of time visitors spend on your website.
- Improve your Online Conversions.
This equals ROI. We’ve seen Company Profile Videos pay for themselves in the first month. Take a look for yourself.
